Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Substitute Music Teachers to join our pool for immediate assignments across various schools within Pasco County. This role offers the flexibility to choose your work days, providing an excellent opportunity for experienced educators, recent graduates, or community members passionate about music and education. As a Substitute Music Teacher, you will be responsible for continuing the instructional program in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for students of all ages and skill levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute lesson plans provided by the absent music teacher, ensuring continuity of instruction.
  • Manage the classroom effectively, maintaining a positive and disciplined learning environment.
  • Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, auditoriums, and during transitions.
  • Teach general music classes, instrumental groups, or vocal ensembles as assigned.
  • Adhere to all school and district policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student progress or any concerns.
  • Protect and care for school musical instruments and equipment.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument or vocal performance.
  • Strong understanding of music theory and pedagogy.
  • Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to various classroom settings and student needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (some college coursework in music or education preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Valid Florida Educator's Certificate (or eligibility for one).
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting.
  • Experience with various teaching methodologies for music education.
  • Ability to play multiple instruments.
