Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Paleontology Assistant to join our Environmental Consulting and Research team in Grenville, Grenada. This entry-level position is designed for recent graduates eager to launch a professional career in paleontology. You will work alongside experienced paleontologists, geologists, and environmental scientists on diverse projects, including environmental impact assessments, archaeological surveys, and site investigations. This role offers a structured pathway for professional development, providing hands-on experience and mentorship to transition from academic knowledge to practical application in a dynamic consulting environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior paleontologists and geologists with fieldwork, including fossil excavation, data collection, and site documentation.
  • Conduct laboratory analysis of fossil specimens, including cleaning, cataloging, and preliminary identification.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings, contributing to project documentation and client deliverables.
  • Utilize GIS and other specialized software for mapping and analyzing paleontological data.
  • Participate in literature reviews and research to support project requirements and scientific understanding.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices during fieldwork and laboratory activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to integrate paleontological insights into broader environmental assessments.
  • Contribute to ongoing professional development initiatives and training programs.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Paleontology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of paleontological principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in scientific writing and data presentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in varied environmental conditions.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with fossil preparation or curation (academic projects or internships).
  • Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Basic knowledge of Caribbean geology or paleontology.
  • Valid driver's license.
