Job Description
Join Valley Metro as a Paratransit Driver with a focus on community support and comprehensive training. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about helping others and providing safe, compassionate transportation services to our community members who qualify for paratransit. You will operate specialized vehicles, assisting passengers with varying needs to their destinations, ensuring their comfort and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate paratransit vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Assist passengers, including those using wheelchairs or other mobility devices, with boarding and de-boarding.
- Provide compassionate and respectful service, engaging positively with all riders.
- Ensure timely and efficient transportation on assigned routes.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate passenger logs and manifest information.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisors regarding schedule changes, delays, or incidents.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and accessibility requirements.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy and patience when working with diverse populations.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Physical ability to assist passengers, including lifting and securing wheelchairs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in transportation or customer service roles.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of Mesa and surrounding Phoenix metropolitan area geography.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
