Job Description

Join Mitie’s dedicated grounds maintenance team as a Garden Maintenance Offsider in Derry/Londonderry. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual looking for an outdoor role with immediate start, where you can learn practical gardening skills. You will work alongside experienced professionals, assisting with all aspects of garden and grounds upkeep, focusing on mowing, edging, and general site tidiness. No prior experience is necessary, as full training will be provided. We are looking for someone reliable, physically fit, and eager to contribute to maintaining high-quality green spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced gardeners with mowing lawns and maintaining grassed areas to high standards.
  • Perform precise edging along pathways, flowerbeds, and other designated areas.
  • Undertake general garden tidy-up duties, including leaf blowing, litter picking, and debris removal.
  • Support in weeding, planting, pruning, and other horticultural tasks as required.
  • Operate and maintain a range of garden machinery and tools safely and effectively (training provided).
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment and waste materials.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and supporting colleagues.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence (Category B).
  • Previous experience in an outdoor work environment or manual labour role.
  • Basic knowledge of garden tools and equipment.
  • An interest in horticulture or landscaping.
