Job Description

The Community Support Aide, with a social focus, plays a vital role within our local government, directly assisting residents and supporting community programs. This position involves providing front-line assistance, connecting individuals with essential resources, and contributing to the successful implementation of social programs designed to improve community well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a commitment to public service. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and information to residents seeking social services and community resources.
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of various community outreach programs and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident interactions and program participation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Identify resident needs and contribute to the development of responsive community initiatives.
  • Handle inquiries and complaints with professionalism, referring complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare basic reports and summaries related to program activities and resident feedback.
  • Adhere to all municipal policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a community support role or public service environment.
  • Knowledge of local Oshawa and Durham Region community resources and social programs.
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to Oshawa's diverse community.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean driving record.
