Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and hands-on Door Lock Replacement Tasker – Home Security Aide to join our growing team in Edinburgh. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient and professional replacement and maintenance of door locks and other basic security components within customer homes and small businesses. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to customer satisfaction to contribute to the safety and security of our community. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal entry-level position for someone looking to start a career in the home security industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site assessment and replacement of various types of door locks (e.g., cylinder, mortice, multi-point) as per customer requirements or system upgrades.
- Ensure all lock replacements are carried out to a high standard, meeting safety and security specifications.
- Conduct basic maintenance and adjustments on existing security hardware.
- Educate customers on the proper use and care of new lock systems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and customer service standards.
- Manage and organize personal inventory of tools and lock components.
- Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of hand tools and their safe operation.
- Ability to follow instructions and detailed procedures accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred for travel to sites).
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearances.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance, or similar practical role.
- Basic knowledge of different lock mechanisms and security hardware.
- Experience in a customer-facing service role.
- Certification in a relevant trade (e.g., carpentry, locksmithing – not mandatory, but a plus).
