Job Description
UPS is seeking dedicated and energetic individuals to join our team as Package Return Runners, focusing on the Central Business District (CBD) and inner city areas of Akron. In this vital role, you will be responsible for efficiently collecting packages from designated return points, businesses, and residential customers within a specific route. This position is crucial for maintaining our high standards of customer satisfaction and ensuring a smooth return logistics process. Key Responsibilities
- Execute timely and efficient collection of packages from scheduled stops within the CBD and inner city routes.
- Verify package contents, labels, and documentation for accuracy before collection.
- Safely transport collected packages to a central sorting or dispatch location.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers, providing assistance with return procedures when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of collections, routes, and any issues encountered during daily operations.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and traffic regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team leaders regarding route progress and potential delays.
- Operate company vehicles or utilize personal vehicle for package transport as required (mileage reimbursement provided if personal vehicle used).
- Assist with other logistical tasks as needed to support overall operations.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
- Excellent knowledge of Akron's CBD and surrounding inner city areas.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a defined route efficiently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in delivery, logistics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with handheld scanning devices or mobile logistics applications.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
- A proactive and problem-solving attitude.
