Job Description

Join J.B. Hunt as a Specialized Long Haul Livestock Hauler! This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced commercial drivers to transport livestock across long distances, ensuring their welfare and timely delivery. You will be responsible for operating state-of-the-art equipment, adhering to strict animal welfare protocols, and maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate commercial motor vehicles for long-haul livestock transport.
  • Load and unload livestock with care and according to established protocols.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicle and trailer are in safe operating condition.
  • Monitor livestock well-being during transit, providing water and rest stops as required.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation.
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal, and company safety regulations, including DOT and animal welfare guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and animal handlers.
  • Perform minor roadside adjustments and maintenance as needed.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Minimum of 2 years verifiable commercial driving experience.
  • Proven experience in livestock hauling.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading and animal care.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS).
  • Knowledge of animal welfare guidelines and safe handling practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific types of livestock (e.g., cattle, hogs, poultry).
  • Certification in Animal Transport or Animal Welfare.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • High school diploma or GED.
