Job Description
We are actively seeking experienced and highly skilled Commercial Airline Pilots (Captain and First Officer roles available) to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for qualified international pilots to secure employment with WestJet in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada, with comprehensive visa sponsorship provided. Successful candidates will operate state-of-the-art aircraft, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort on our domestic and international routes. You will be an integral part of a dynamic flight crew, upholding WestJet’s reputation for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate WestJet aircraft in accordance with company policies, procedures, and Canadian aviation regulations (CARs).
- Assume command of the aircraft, making critical decisions related to flight operations, weather, and passenger safety (Captain).
- Assist the Captain in all phases of flight, ensuring accurate navigation, communication, and system monitoring (First Officer).
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections, flight planning, and post-flight duties.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness and effective communication within the flight deck and with air traffic control.
- Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency protocols.
- Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and professionalism within the crew.
- Complete all required documentation and reports accurately and timely.
- Act as a WestJet ambassador, providing excellent service and ensuring passenger comfort and confidence.
Required Skills
- Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with frozen ATPL equivalent (for First Officer)
- Minimum 3000 hours total flight time for First Officer applicants; minimum 5000 hours total flight time with significant command experience for Captain applicants
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Instrument Rating (IR)
- Multi-Engine Rating (ME)
- English language proficiency (ICAO Level 4 or higher)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian Aviation Medical Certificate
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Type rating on Boeing 737 or similar narrow-body aircraft
- Experience with Canadian airspace and operational procedures
- Previous experience with a major commercial airline
- Advanced CRM (Crew Resource Management) training
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation or related field
