Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Specimen Processing Clerk to join our high-volume warehouse team in Bloomington, MN. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling, sorting, and preparation of biological specimens for laboratory testing and onward shipment. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to strict safety and compliance protocols, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where precision is paramount. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unpack, and log incoming biological specimens, ensuring proper identification and integrity.
- Verify specimen information against accompanying documentation, resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Sort and categorize specimens based on type, test requirements, and destination.
- Prepare specimens for testing or shipment, including aliquoting, labeling, and packaging according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of all specimen movements and processing activities using internal systems.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, biohazard handling procedures, and quality control standards.
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory and warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding specimen status or issues.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a high-volume warehouse, logistics, or laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a scientific or related field.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) or inventory management software.
- Familiarity with medical terminology or biohazard safety protocols.
- Certification in phlebotomy or medical assistant training.
