Job Description
Montefiore Health System is seeking highly motivated recent graduates to join our Junior Fellow – Recent Graduate Program in Top Tier Research. This program offers an unparalleled opportunity for individuals passionate about scientific discovery and medical innovation to gain hands-on experience in a leading academic medical center. Fellows will contribute to cutting-edge research projects, develop critical research skills, and work alongside world-renowned scientists and clinicians. This is an entry-level position designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for a career in medical research, preparing participants for advanced studies or professional roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the design, execution, and analysis phases of ongoing research projects.
- Collect, process, and manage research data with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Perform laboratory experiments, statistical analyses, or qualitative data collection as required by the project.
- Prepare preliminary findings, reports, and presentations for team meetings and potential conferences.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of all experimental procedures, observations, and results.
- Collaborate effectively with principal investigators, senior researchers, and other team members.
- Contribute to the drafting of scientific manuscripts, grant applications, and research protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all institutional, ethical, and safety guidelines for research.
- Assist in literature reviews and synthesis of existing scientific knowledge.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree obtained within the last two years in a relevant scientific or health-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, Data Science).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a foundational understanding of scientific principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear and concise scientific reporting.
- Proficiency in basic data handling and analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, basic statistical software).
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and a strong curiosity for scientific inquiry.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a research laboratory or academic research setting (e.g., undergraduate research, internships, thesis work).
- Familiarity with specific research methodologies relevant to medical or biological sciences (e.g., cell culture, PCR, flow cytometry, epidemiological methods).
- Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, SAS) or qualitative analysis software.
- Record of academic achievements, awards, or participation in scientific presentations/publications.
- Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific literature.
