Job Description
We are seeking a highly reliable and experienced individual for a part-time, on-call Weekend Backup Childcare position. This high-paying role is crucial for families who require dependable support for unexpected or scheduled weekend needs. As an on-call caregiver, you will be part of a roster of trusted professionals ready to step in at short notice. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine love for children, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to childcare, ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. This role requires flexibility and commitment to provide exceptional care, primarily during weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, safe, and engaging care for children of various ages (infants, toddlers, school-aged)
- Follow family's routines and instructions regarding meals, naps, and activities
- Engage children in age-appropriate educational and recreational activities
- Assist with light household duties related to childcare, such as tidying up play areas or preparing simple meals for children
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for the children
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding children's activities and well-being
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care at all times
- Be available on an on-call basis for weekend shifts, often with short notice
- Administer basic first aid if necessary and know when to seek professional medical attention
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable childcare experience with diverse age groups
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain immediately)
- Proven reliability and punctuality
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage children creatively and constructively
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and calm demeanor under pressure
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- Clean background check and professional references
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Experience with special needs children
- Experience working in a professional childcare setting (e.g., daycare, preschool)
- Fluency in multiple languages
