Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Harp Instructor to join our distinguished faculty. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to teach both private and group lessons, catering to students ranging from beginners to advanced levels. As a Harp Instructor, you will develop engaging curricula, inspire students, and contribute to the rich musical community at the Louisville Academy of Music. Given the niche nature of the instrument and high demand, this role offers competitive hourly compensation and a flexible schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, individualized harp instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans and curricula for private and potential group classes.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles.
  • Prepare students for recitals, examinations, auditions, and competitions as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and lesson plans.
  • Communicate effectively with students and their guardians regarding progress and upcoming events.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and academy events as required.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and disciplined learning environment.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional proficiency and performance ability on the harp (pedal and/or lever).
  • Proven experience in teaching harp to students of various ages and skill levels (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and ear training.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and pedagogical skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students while maintaining high standards.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a passion for music education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field with a concentration in Harp.
  • Experience with diverse teaching methodologies and curriculum development.
  • Active participation in professional music organizations or ensembles.
  • Familiarity with various harp repertoire, styles, and historical contexts.
