Job Description
Are you driven by a desire to uncover the truth and contribute to public safety? We are seeking a motivated Trainee Arson Investigator to join our dedicated team. This entry-level position offers comprehensive training and mentorship to develop your skills in fire scene analysis, evidence collection, and investigative techniques. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning how to determine the origin and cause of fires, particularly those suspected to be arson, and support the legal process. This role is crucial in helping us prevent future incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior investigators in examining fire scenes to determine origin, cause, and circumstances of fires.
- Learn and apply techniques for collecting, documenting, and preserving physical evidence from fire scenes.
- Participate in interviews with witnesses, victims, and suspects under supervision.
- Compile detailed notes and reports on investigations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
- Shadow and support experienced investigators in preparing case files and presenting findings.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all relevant legal and service protocols.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training specific to fire investigation.
- Assist with the maintenance and calibration of investigative equipment.
Required Skills
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging environments.
- A keen interest in forensic science, law enforcement, or fire safety.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and data management.

- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Level or equivalent in a science-related subject.
- Previous experience or volunteer work within emergency services or public safety.
