Job Description
Accenture is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time, on-site position, and we are pleased to offer visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that power our analytical capabilities and business intelligence solutions. You will be responsible for working with large datasets, ensuring data quality, and implementing efficient ETL processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python and SQL, experience with cloud platforms, and a passion for building reliable data systems. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into data warehouses and data lakes.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for data pipelines to ensure operational excellence.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and mentor junior team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, optimizing performance bottlenecks.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging data technologies and best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Expert proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
- Strong expertise in SQL for complex query writing, database design, and optimization.
- Demonstrable experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for data services.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data lake architectures.
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Big Data technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or Hadoop.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data solutions.
- Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
