Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled Telecommunications Tower Engineer to join our dynamic team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a Telecommunications Tower Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, construction, maintenance, and optimization of our extensive network of telecommunication towers. You will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, performance, and compliance of our tower infrastructure, contributing directly to the reliability and expansion of our critical communication services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structural analysis and design for new and existing telecommunication towers, foundations, and antenna mounts.
- Perform site surveys to assess feasibility, identify potential risks, and gather necessary data for tower projects.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
- Oversee the construction, installation, and modification of tower infrastructure, ensuring adherence to design and safety protocols.
- Inspect towers for structural integrity, corrosion, and damage, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers, field crews, and other engineering teams to ensure project success and timely completion.
- Evaluate new technologies and materials related to tower design and construction to enhance network performance and efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in telecommunications tower design, analysis, or construction.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., RISA-3D, tnxTower, STAAD.Pro).
- Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., TIA-222, CSA S37-18).
- Experience with site assessments, foundation design, and rigging plans.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related engineering field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in Canada.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of RF principles and antenna systems.
- Project management experience in telecommunications infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Canadian regulatory requirements for telecommunications infrastructure.
