Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Southwark, London. As a Telecommunications Network Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cutting-edge network infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability for our millions of customers. You will work on a variety of projects, from optimizing existing networks to deploying new technologies, all while collaborating with a team of experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex telecommunications networks, including IP, optical, and wireless systems.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal service availability and quality.
- Participate in the planning and execution of network upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansions.
- Configure and deploy network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and optical transport systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, support, and development, to resolve technical challenges.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Stay abreast of emerging telecommunications technologies and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in telecommunications network engineering.
- Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
- Experience with network equipment from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or Huawei.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Eligibility for sponsorship supported by BT Group.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud networking technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Experience with optical fiber technologies and DWDM/CWDM systems.
