Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and detail-oriented Technical QA Tester with a specialized focus on the Frostbite Engine. As a core member of our development team, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality, stability, and performance of our next-generation titles built on the Frostbite Engine. This role requires a deep technical understanding of game engines, sophisticated testing methodologies, and a proactive approach to identifying and reporting complex issues. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases specifically tailored for Frostbite Engine features and integrations.
  • Perform in-depth technical testing across various game systems, including rendering, physics, networking, animation, and tooling within the Frostbite ecosystem.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs with clear, concise, and reproducible steps, often requiring detailed technical analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and producers to understand system architecture and feature implementation.
  • Utilize internal tools, debuggers, and profiling software to diagnose complex technical issues.
  • Participate in design and sprint reviews, providing early feedback on potential technical risks and quality concerns.
  • Contribute to the improvement of QA processes, tools, and best practices, particularly regarding engine-specific testing.
  • Provide risk assessments and quality reports to stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior QA testers on technical testing methodologies and engine-specific knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical quality assurance within the video game industry.
  • Proven experience with game engines, preferably Frostbite, Unreal Engine, or Unity.
  • Strong understanding of game development pipelines and software development life cycles (SDLC).
  • Proficiency with bug tracking software (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) and test case management tools.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, C#) for test automation or tool development.
  • Solid understanding of various testing methodologies, including functional, performance, regression, and compatibility testing.
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications and design documents.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with console and PC platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git).
  • Knowledge of graphics APIs (DirectX, OpenGL, Vulkan) and shaders.
  • Experience working on AAA titles.
  • Previous experience specifically testing games built on the Frostbite Engine.
