Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Ward Logistics Coordinator to join our dedicated team within Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This vital role is central to ensuring the efficient flow of supplies, equipment, and services to our wards, directly impacting patient care and operational effectiveness. You will be responsible for coordinating all logistical activities, managing stock levels, liaising with various departments, and contributing to a safe and well-equipped clinical environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a meticulous approach to detail, and a passion for supporting healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain optimal stock levels of medical supplies, equipment, and consumables on assigned wards, conducting regular audits and stock rotation.
- Process and track orders for supplies and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and accurate record-keeping.
- Liaise effectively with procurement, pharmacy, estates, porters, and other support services to coordinate logistics and resolve issues.
- Oversee the proper storage and organisation of supplies, adhering to health and safety regulations and infection control standards.
- Coordinate the movement of equipment, including tracking maintenance schedules and ensuring equipment availability.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages in supplies or equipment.
- Contribute to the implementation of new logistics procedures and systems to enhance efficiency.
- Provide logistical support during ward transfers, discharges, and admissions.
- Train and support ward staff on logistics processes and inventory management best practices.
- Maintain accurate digital and physical records of all logistical transactions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a logistics, supply chain, or administrative role, preferably within a healthcare or similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of liaising with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Understanding of health and safety guidelines, particularly within a clinical setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Experience with NHS specific procurement or inventory systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical ward environments.
- Full UK driving license (desirable for inter-site movement, but not essential).
