Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sustainability Reporting & Carbon Accounting Intern to join our team in Goderich, Ontario. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, and carbon footprint analysis within a dynamic industrial setting. You will work closely with our environmental and sustainability teams to support data collection, analysis, and reporting initiatives that drive our sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, validating, and managing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data from various operational sources.
- Support the calculation and analysis of our carbon footprint across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal and external sustainability reports, aligning with frameworks such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD.
- Conduct research on best practices in sustainability reporting, carbon accounting, and industry trends.
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives and projects.
- Prepare presentations and communications on sustainability performance for various stakeholders.
- Learn about environmental compliance and regulatory requirements relevant to our operations.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with an ability to manage and interpret data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential; familiarity with other data analysis tools is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability, environmental issues, and corporate responsibility.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with major sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Basic understanding of carbon accounting methodologies and greenhouse gas (GHG) protocols.
- Prior project experience or coursework related to sustainability, environmental management, or data analysis.
