Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Freight Forwarding Manager to lead our operations in Concord, NC. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of freight forwarding services, ensuring operational excellence, managing client relationships, and driving team performance. This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of international and domestic logistics, a commitment to customer satisfaction, and the ability to navigate complex supply chain challenges. This position comes with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) provided for eligible candidates, demonstrating our commitment to attracting global talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize daily freight forwarding operations for air, ocean, and road shipments.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of freight forwarding specialists.
- Ensure strict compliance with all international and domestic shipping regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, lasting relationships with clients, carriers, and vendors.
- Monitor operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement efficiency initiatives to drive productivity.
- Handle complex customer inquiries and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Manage budgetary targets and contribute to strategic business development efforts.
- Oversee accurate and timely documentation, invoicing, and reporting processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5-7 years) in freight forwarding operations and management.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs brokerage, and logistics processes across multiple modes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of motivating and developing staff.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in freight management software (e.g., TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, especially under pressure.
- Valid driver's license and flexibility for occasional travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certifications in customs brokerage (e.g., LCB) or dangerous goods handling (e.g., IATA, IMDG).
- Experience with specific freight forwarding software platforms (e.g., CargoWise One, Magaya, SAP).
- Multilingual abilities are considered a significant asset.
- Project management experience with a focus on process improvement.
