Job Description
Are you a motivated student eager to gain leadership experience and make a difference in your community? The YMCA of Pomona Valley is seeking enthusiastic Summer Camp Counselor Aides for a student leadership role. This temporary position offers a unique opportunity to assist seasoned camp counselors, engage with children in various activities, and develop valuable leadership and teamwork skills. You will contribute to creating a safe, fun, and memorable summer experience for our campers, while also participating in a structured program designed to foster your personal and professional growth. This role is ideal for students looking to build their resume, learn about youth program management, and be a positive role model.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead counselors in supervising groups of campers during daily activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Actively participate in and facilitate various camp activities, including games, crafts, sports, and educational programs.
- Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating enthusiasm, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Support the creation of an inclusive and welcoming environment for all campers.
- Help organize and prepare materials for daily activities and maintain a clean camp environment.
- Communicate effectively with lead counselors regarding camper needs, concerns, or incidents.
- Participate in daily staff meetings and training sessions as required.
