Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven IT Support Intern to join our team in Houston, TX. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT support within the critical energy infrastructure sector. You will work alongside experienced IT professionals, providing technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and contributing to the smooth operation of our IT systems that underpin our vast network. This role is perfect for a student eager to apply their academic knowledge in a dynamic corporate environment and learn about the specific IT challenges and solutions within the energy industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of new computers, peripherals, and software.
- Troubleshoot and resolve common IT problems, escalating complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
- Document IT support requests, resolutions, and procedures in our ticketing system.
- Perform routine IT maintenance tasks, including patching, updates, and system checks.
- Assist in managing IT assets and inventory.
- Participate in IT projects as directed, contributing to process improvements and system enhancements.
- Adhere to company IT policies, security protocols, and best practices.
- Learn and adapt to new technologies and systems relevant to energy infrastructure IT.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows), and common software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
