Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Spectroscopy Specialist to join our Research & Development team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge scientific discovery while working 100% remotely. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting complex spectroscopic experiments to support product development and innovation across various scientific disciplines. You will leverage your expertise in a range of spectroscopic techniques to characterize materials, identify unknown compounds, and elucidate molecular structures. This role requires strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse global teams. You will drive scientific initiatives, troubleshoot technical challenges, and present your findings with clarity and precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute spectroscopic experiments (e.g., IR, Raman, UV-Vis, NMR) for R&D projects.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot spectroscopic instrumentation remotely, ensuring data integrity and quality.
- Perform advanced data analysis and interpretation of complex spectroscopic datasets, including spectral deconvolution and quantification.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., chemists, materials scientists, biologists) to integrate spectroscopic insights into product development cycles.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications based on research findings.
- Stay current with emerging spectroscopic techniques, scientific literature, and industry best practices.
- Develop and optimize new spectroscopic methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide expert consultation on spectroscopic challenges and analytical strategy.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with multiple spectroscopic techniques (IR, Raman, UV-Vis, NMR).
- Proficiency in spectroscopic data acquisition and advanced analysis software.
- Strong understanding of molecular structure and chemical bonding principles.
- Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and interpret complex scientific experiments independently.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.
- Proven ability to work effectively and productively in a remote work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with chemometric data analysis and multivariate statistical methods.
- Familiarity with additional spectroscopic techniques (e.g., Mass Spectrometry, X-ray Spectroscopy).
- Track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in a regulated industry setting (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices).
