Job Description
Are you passionate about hair color and eager to learn the art of balayage and highlights from industry experts? Lumina Hair Studio is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Junior Colorist. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with a cosmetology license, even with limited experience in coloring, to receive comprehensive, paid training in advanced color techniques. You’ll work alongside our seasoned stylists, gain hands-on experience, and build your career in a supportive and creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured, paid training program focused on balayage, highlights, color theory, and product knowledge.
- Assist senior colorists with client consultations, color mixing, application, and processing.
- Prepare clients for color services, including shampooing and draping.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and salon environment.
- Learn and adhere to all salon safety and sanitation protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive client experience.
- Support front desk operations when needed, including scheduling appointments and answering phones.
- Continuously seek to improve skills and knowledge through observation and practice.
Required Skills
- Valid Cosmetology license in Vermont.
- Strong passion for hair color and the beauty industry.
- Eagerness to learn and a positive, coachable attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a salon setting (even as an assistant).
- Basic understanding of hair structure and color principles.
- A portfolio or examples of personal hair work (even on friends/family) is a plus.
