Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Social Skills Mentor to join our community services team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about helping others develop essential communication and interpersonal skills. The primary focus of this role will be to guide and support individuals in enhancing their social interactions, verbal and non-verbal communication, and overall self-expression. You will work directly with program participants, fostering a supportive and engaging environment where they can practice and internalize new skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate individual and group sessions focused on developing social and communication skills.
  • Implement structured activities and exercises designed to improve active listening, empathy, conflict resolution, and conversation management.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to participants, helping them identify areas for growth.
  • Model appropriate social behaviors and communication techniques.
  • Document participant progress and adjust mentoring strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators and other team members to ensure a holistic support approach.
  • Assist in the development of new program materials and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Communication, or a related field.
  • Volunteer or previous experience in mentoring, coaching, or working with individuals on communication challenges.
  • Familiarity with various social learning theories or communication strategies.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
