Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Hotel Porter to join our prestigious team at Claridge’s. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a strong background in luxury hospitality to step into a leadership role, guiding and inspiring our porter team. You will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of guest service, from arrival to departure, managing luggage handling, guest assistance, and maintaining the immaculate presentation of our hotel’s public areas. This role requires exceptional physical stamina, outstanding communication skills, and a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences. As a leader, you will be responsible for training, mentoring, and scheduling junior porters, fostering a cohesive and high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of hotel porters, ensuring adherence to Claridge's exacting service standards.
- Oversee the efficient and secure handling of guest luggage, packages, and deliveries.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and personalized assistance to guests, anticipating their needs and exceeding expectations.
- Manage the arrival and departure experience, including greeting guests, assisting with transportation, and providing local information.
- Maintain the cleanliness and pristine presentation of the hotel lobby, entrance, and public areas.
- Coordinate with other departments (Front Desk, Concierge, Housekeeping) to ensure seamless guest service.
- Handle guest inquiries, requests, and minor complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
- Assist with internal hotel transfers and special event setups as required.
- Ensure all health, safety, and security procedures are strictly followed by the porter team.
- Conduct regular equipment checks and ensure all tools are in excellent working condition.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Hotel Porter in a luxury hotel environment.
- Proven leadership ability and experience in guiding or supervising a team.
- Exceptional physical stamina and ability to lift heavy luggage and stand for extended periods.
- Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills, with a fluent command of English.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of presentation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior porter role.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
- A formal qualification in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Knowledge of local attractions, transportation, and amenities in London.
