Job Description

Home Instead in New Port Richey, FL is seeking dedicated Senior Companions for flexible day shifts. Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, engaging companionship and social interaction to clients.
- Assist clients with light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, meal preparation, and tidying up.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social activities.
- Remind clients to take medication as prescribed (no administration of medication).
- Assist with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming (if qualified and requested by client).
- Engage clients in stimulating activities like reading, games, puzzles, or walks.
- Monitor and report any changes in the client's health, behavior, or environment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for clients.
- Provide transportation using the client's or your own vehicle for errands and appointments.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a caregiving, companionship, or healthcare support role.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport and foster trust with senior clients.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as light lifting, bending, and standing for periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- CNA or HHA certification.
- Experience with clients suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience working with a senior care agency.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
