Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Senior Companion Chauffeur with a strong wellness and medical focus to join our dedicated team in Pasco, WA. This critical role involves providing safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation for our senior clients to medical appointments, therapy sessions, social engagements, and personal errands. Beyond driving, you will serve as a trusted companion, offering attentive support, engaging conversation, and proactive assistance to ensure our clients’ well-being and comfort throughout their outings. This role demands exceptional driving skills, a deep understanding of senior care needs, and a proactive approach to client wellness, including light support during medical visits and adherence to health-related schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, punctual, and reliable transportation for senior clients to and from medical appointments, therapy, social events, and personal errands.
- Assist clients with ambulation, transfers (if needed and trained), and mobility support getting in and out of vehicles and during their destinations.
- Offer compassionate companionship, engaging clients in conversation and activities during transit and waiting periods.
- Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe vehicle environment, ensuring it is always ready for client use.
- Adhere strictly to client schedules, ensuring timely arrival and departure for all appointments.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with clients, their families, and Home Instead staff regarding schedules, needs, and any observed changes in client condition.
- Assist clients with carrying bags, parcels, and personal items, ensuring their safe transport.
- Document mileage, trip details, and any incidents or observations accurately.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and client confidentiality.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of professional driving experience, preferably with seniors or individuals with special needs.
- Excellent defensive driving record with no major violations.
- Valid state driver’s license and up-to-date vehicle insurance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic demeanor.
- Ability to assist clients with mobility and provide light physical support.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to navigate using GPS and mapping applications efficiently.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a medical transport driver or companion for seniors.
- Familiarity with the Pasco and surrounding Tri-Cities area roads and medical facilities.
- Knowledge of basic elder care principles and common age-related conditions.
- Training in dementia care or other specialized senior care areas.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
