Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Companion Aide to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This 100% Non-Voice/Non-Clinical role is perfect for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of seniors through direct companionship and support. As a Senior Companion Aide, you will provide essential non-medical assistance, fostering a positive and engaging environment for our residents. This role focuses purely on companionship, light household duties, and personal support, ensuring our residents maintain a high quality of life and independence within their community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm and engaging companionship, engaging residents in conversations and activities.
- Assist residents with light household tasks such as tidying living areas, making beds, and organizing.
- Support residents with personal care routines, including dressing, grooming, and hygiene, while respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Accompany residents to appointments, outings, or community activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Assist with meal preparation and encourage healthy eating habits.
- Monitor and report any changes in a resident's condition or behavior to the appropriate supervisory staff.
- Engage residents in hobbies, games, or social events to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Run errands for residents, such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in providing companionship or personal care services.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (non-verbal and verbal, though non-voice in core duties).
- Strong sense of empathy, patience, and compassion.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to assist residents with mobility and light household tasks.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with individuals with memory impairment or other age-related conditions.
- Prior experience in a senior living community or home care setting.
- Basic knowledge of nutrition and meal planning.
