Job Description
Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors? Visiting Angels of Tucson is seeking a dedicated Senior Citizen Errand Runner to join our community support team. This flexible part-time role involves assisting seniors with essential errands and light support tasks, allowing them to remain independent and comfortable in their homes. You will be a trusted companion, helping with grocery shopping, prescription pickups, mail, and other vital daily activities. This position offers a flexible schedule, perfect for someone seeking meaningful work with autonomy and a direct impact on our community’s seniors.
Key Responsibilities
- Run essential errands for senior clients, including grocery shopping, pharmacy pickups, and post office visits.
- Provide reliable transportation for clients to appointments, social engagements, or other outings (as needed and agreed upon).
- Assist with light household tasks that support client independence, such as organizing mail or putting away groceries.
- Offer companionship and engage in light conversation during visits and errands.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and the Visiting Angels office regarding schedules and needs.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients during all activities.
- Manage time effectively to complete errands efficiently and on schedule.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with current insurance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate demeanor.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- High degree of punctuality and reliability.
- Physical ability to lift light packages (up to 15 lbs) and stand/walk for periods of time.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with seniors or in a caregiving role.
- Familiarity with the Tucson area and local services.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- High school diploma or GED.
