Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Salon Equipment Fitter to join our growing team in Abbotsford, BC. This is a hands-on, manual role that requires excellent technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to travel to various salon and spa locations within the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of salon equipment, including chairs, washbasins, drying units, and treatment tables. You will ensure all equipment is installed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, providing exceptional service to our professional clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install new salon equipment at client locations according to specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of existing salon and spa equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Ensure all installations meet local building codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to clients on the proper use and basic maintenance of newly installed equipment.
  • Manage and organize service tools, parts, and equipment inventory in a company vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to schedule appointments and provide status updates.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment installation, maintenance, or a related manual trade.
  • Proficiency with various hand and power tools.
  • Strong mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical positions.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel extensively within the region.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience specifically with salon, spa, or commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Vocational training or certification in a relevant trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations in British Columbia.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on the road.
