Job Description
Join IBM as a Remote Technical Writer and play a pivotal role in shaping our product documentation. You will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive manuals, guides, and other technical content for our cutting-edge software and hardware solutions. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and support teams to ensure accuracy and user-friendliness of all documentation, supporting our global client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, and online help.
- Collaborate with product development teams to gather information, understand product functionality, and accurately convey complex technical concepts.
- Edit and proofread content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and adherence to style guides.
- Ensure all documentation is consistent, accessible, and aligned with brand voice.
- Manage documentation lifecycle from conception to publication, including updates and revisions.
- Utilize content management systems (CMS) and version control tools effectively.
- Participate in peer reviews and provide constructive feedback to other writers.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a software or IT environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into easily understandable content.
- Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, MadCap Flare, Oxygen XML Editor, Adobe FrameMaker).
- Strong understanding of documentation best practices and information architecture.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of DITA, XML, or other structured authoring standards.
- Experience in a remote work setting.
