Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Remote Special Education Consultant to join our dynamic team. In this WFH advisory role, you will leverage your expertise to support educational institutions, school boards, and educators in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective special education programs and strategies. You will provide remote guidance, professional learning, and resource recommendations to enhance learning outcomes for students with diverse needs. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert remote consultation and advisory services to school administrators, teachers, and support staff on best practices in special education.
- Develop and deliver virtual professional development workshops, webinars, and training sessions on topics such as inclusive education, differentiated instruction, assessment strategies, and IEP development.
- Assist in the selection and implementation of appropriate educational technologies and resources for students with special needs.
- Analyze current special education programs and provide recommendations for improvement, alignment with provincial guidelines, and compliance with accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and review special education content, curricula, and digital learning solutions.
- Stay current with emerging research, legislation, and trends in special education to ensure advice and recommendations are evidence-based and relevant.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Support the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) and student support plans, offering guidance on goal setting and progress monitoring.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a special education leadership, consulting, or instructional design role within a K-12 setting.
- Deep understanding of Canadian provincial special education legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Demonstrated expertise in differentiated instruction, universal design for learning (UDL), and evidence-based interventions for diverse learners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills for remote professional development delivery.
- Proficiency in using virtual collaboration tools and educational technology platforms.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Special Education or a related field.
- Professional certification or licensure in Special Education in a Canadian province.
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation specific to special education.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding culturally responsive practices in special education.
