Job Description

We are seeking a highly meticulous and dedicated QA Laboratory Specialist to join our Georgetown, Washington D.C. team. This is a crucial on-site role demanding exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance within our diagnostic laboratory. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of all laboratory processes and results. This stable Monday-Friday position offers a consistent schedule, allowing for a healthy work-life balance while contributing to vital healthcare services. You will be responsible for upholding rigorous quality control procedures, performing audits, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that are central to our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough quality control checks on laboratory equipment, reagents, and samples according to established protocols.
  • Document all QA activities, findings, and corrective actions accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct internal audits of laboratory processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to SOPs.
  • Assist in the investigation of non-conformances, root cause analysis, and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Contribute to the development, review, and revision of quality assurance documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality manuals.
  • Participate in proficiency testing programs and ensure the accuracy of results.
  • Provide training and guidance to laboratory staff on quality assurance principles and practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven meticulous attention to detail and precision in laboratory work.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, ISO 15189).
  • Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • ASCP or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies in a laboratory setting.
