Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Policy Specialist to join our Government & Public Services team in Nashville, TN. This role is crucial for supporting long-term government contracts, focusing on policy analysis, development, and implementation. The Public Policy Specialist will be responsible for researching complex policy issues, analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, and providing strategic recommendations to government clients. This position requires a deep understanding of government processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to projects that shape critical public services and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of public policy issues, legislative proposals, and regulatory frameworks relevant to government contracts.
- Monitor legislative and policy developments at federal, state, and local levels, identifying potential impacts on client projects and objectives.
- Develop policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage with various stakeholders, including government officials, industry experts, and advocacy groups, to gather insights and build consensus.
- Formulate strategic policy recommendations and implementation plans for government clients.
- Support the preparation of grant applications, contract proposals, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure policy considerations are integrated into overall project strategies.
- Provide expert advice on policy implications, risks, and opportunities related to ongoing and prospective government contracts.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in public policy analysis, government relations, or a related field, preferably with exposure to government contracts.
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly.
- Proven ability to conduct rigorous research and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
- Experience working with federal, state, or local government agencies.
- Familiarity with specific policy areas such as healthcare, education, technology, or environmental policy.
- Project management experience, particularly in managing policy-focused initiatives.
- Experience with policy modeling or quantitative analysis tools.
