Job Description

Meta is seeking a passionate and experienced Policy Engagement Lead with a strong focus on social media trends to join our Public Policy team. In this role, you will be instrumental in monitoring the evolving social media landscape, identifying key trends, and assessing their potential policy implications. You will develop and execute engagement strategies with policymakers, civil society, and other stakeholders to advocate for Meta’s policy positions and ensure our platforms continue to foster positive and responsible online communities. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in social media dynamics, public policy, and a proven ability to translate complex issues into actionable policy recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor global social media trends, emerging platforms, and user behaviors to identify potential policy risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of social media trends and their impact on online safety, privacy, content moderation, and other critical policy areas.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive policy engagement strategies to build relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and civil society organizations in San Antonio and across Texas.
  • Advise internal product, legal, and communications teams on the policy implications of new features, products, and platform changes related to social media trends.
  • Prepare policy briefs, presentations, and other materials to articulate Meta’s positions on relevant issues to external stakeholders.
  • Represent Meta at industry conferences, public forums, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent and coherent approach to policy development and advocacy.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in public policy, government relations, advocacy, or a related field with a focus on technology or social media.
  • Demonstrable expertise in social media platforms, their ecosystems, and current online trends.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes, particularly at state and local levels.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy positions clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from various sources to inform policy strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Public Policy, Law, Communications, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience working directly with or within government agencies or legislative bodies.
  • Familiarity with Texas state politics and regulatory environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus, given the demographic composition of San Antonio.
