Job Description
Join the Lowe’s Canada team in Hamilton as a seasonal Patio Furniture Builder for the exciting Spring/Summer season! This temporary gig is perfect for individuals looking for hands-on work, enjoy assembly tasks, and want to contribute to helping customers create their dream outdoor spaces. You will be responsible for assembling various types of patio furniture, ensuring high-quality construction and timely completion to meet peak season demands. This on-site role is vital for preparing our showroom and inventory for our busiest months.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble a variety of patio furniture, including chairs, tables, sofas, and outdoor dining sets, following manufacturer's instructions and diagrams.
- Ensure all furniture is assembled correctly, safely, and to the highest quality standards, checking for stability and completeness.
- Inspect completed furniture for defects or missing parts and promptly report any issues to management or team lead.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures related to tool use, lifting, and workspace management.
- Assist with moving, staging, and organizing assembled furniture within the store's showroom or warehouse as needed.
- Manage time effectively to meet daily and weekly assembly targets and deadlines during the busy seasonal period.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and accurately follow detailed assembly instructions and diagrams.
- Basic understanding and safe operation of common hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, Allen keys, power drills).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality workmanship.
- Physical stamina to stand, lift (up to 50 lbs unassisted), bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in furniture assembly, carpentry, or a related hands-on construction or repair role.
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with various types of fasteners, hardware, and assembly techniques.
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn new assembly methods or product lines.
