Job Description
Are you a compassionate and experienced caregiver looking for flexible, short-term shifts with an excellent hourly rate? Bayshore Home Health is seeking dedicated Respite Care Providers to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality care, possess strong communication skills, and are available for various shift durations to offer essential relief to family caregivers. As a Respite Care Provider, you will play a vital role in enabling primary caregivers to take much-needed breaks, knowing their loved ones are in capable and caring hands. Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and light exercise as per care plan.
- Administer medication reminders and ensure adherence to schedules.
- Offer engaging companionship and participate in stimulating activities.
- Prepare nutritious light meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the client.
- Document care provided accurately and report any changes in client condition or concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow individualized care plans diligently and respectfully.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and Bayshore Home Health staff.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a caregiving role (e.g., HCA, PCA, PSW, or equivalent).
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, reliability, and a strong commitment to client well-being.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse home environments and client needs.
- Successful completion of a clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
- Access to reliable transportation to travel to client homes within Edmonton.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide (HCA) program or equivalent post-secondary education in a related field.
- Experience with specific conditions such as dementia care, palliative care, or complex medical needs.
- Flexibility to accept shifts on short notice.
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
