Job Description

Duke University is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Part-time Student Staff to support various departments and initiatives across our campus. This is an excellent opportunity for current students to gain valuable professional experience, develop new skills, and contribute to the university community. While the program is designed to reach students across ‘All Regions USA’ through various outreach efforts, this specific opening is based at our main campus in Durham, NC. We are looking for individuals who are proactive, eager to learn, and possess strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a current student looking for flexible hours to balance academic commitments with meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, scheduling, and document management.
  • Assist with event planning and execution, including setup, registration, and post-event tasks.
  • Conduct research and compile information as directed by supervisors.
  • Manage communication channels, including email correspondence and phone calls.
  • Maintain organized records and files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support faculty and staff with various projects and day-to-day operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at Duke University or an accredited institution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Reliable and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office or administrative support role.
  • Familiarity with Duke University's campus resources and departments.
  • Experience with specific software relevant to the department (e.g., specific databases, content management systems).
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
