Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-time After-School Club Playworker with a strong focus on weekend event support to join our vibrant team in Lekki. This role is crucial in creating a fun, safe, and stimulating environment for children aged 5-12 years during after-school hours and specifically for weekend events. The ideal candidate will have a passion for child development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to organize and lead engaging activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the positive growth and development of our students outside of regular school hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of creative, educational, and recreational activities for children during after-school club sessions.
- Supervise children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times, adhering to all safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Facilitate and support children's participation in weekend school events, ensuring smooth operations and engaging experiences.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff, maintaining open and effective communication.
- Manage behavior effectively, promoting positive social interactions and conflict resolution.
- Assist with the setup and clear-down of activity areas and equipment, ensuring a tidy and organized environment.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary (training will be provided or updated).
- Attend regular team meetings and training sessions as required.
Required Skills
- Experience working with children aged 5-12 in a supervised setting (e.g., clubs, schools, camps).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and lead engaging activities appropriate for various age groups.
- Strong understanding of child safety and safeguarding principles.
- Patience, creativity, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic first aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in childcare, education, sports, or a related field.
- Experience in organizing or supporting large-scale events for children.
- Knowledge of various playwork theories and practices.
- Proficiency in an additional language spoken by a portion of the student population (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa).
