Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pain Management Nurse to join our dedicated team in Norwich. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced nurse with a strong clinical focus in pain management, offering a stable Monday-Friday work schedule. You will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain conditions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, providing expert nursing care, education, and support to enhance patient quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pain assessments, including physical examination and medical history review.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized pain management care plans in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Administer pain relief medications and therapies, including epidurals, nerve blocks, and other interventions, as per protocol and physician orders.
  • Monitor patients for effectiveness of pain interventions and adverse reactions.
  • Educate patients and their families on pain management strategies, medication use, and self-care techniques.
  • Provide psychological support and counselling to patients dealing with chronic pain.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and contribute to service development.
  • Adhere to all Nuffield Health policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards.
  • Act as a resource and mentor to junior staff members regarding pain management best practices.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with current NMC registration.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, with significant experience in pain management, anaesthetics, or a related specialty.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of acute and chronic pain physiology, pharmacology, and treatment modalities.
  • Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification in Pain Management or a related field.
  • Experience with specialist pain management procedures and techniques.
  • Leadership or mentorship experience within a clinical setting.
  • Experience in a private healthcare setting.
