Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Offshore Medic with a strong focus on healthcare and safety to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care, emergency response, and health promotion services to personnel working on our offshore facilities. You will play a vital part in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment, adhering to international medical standards and company safety protocols. This position requires exceptional clinical judgment, a proactive approach to safety, and the ability to work independently in a challenging and remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate emergency medical care and stabilization for injuries and illnesses offshore.
- Conduct primary healthcare consultations, diagnostics, and treatment for routine medical conditions.
- Manage and coordinate medical evacuations (MEDEVAC) in collaboration with onshore medical support.
- Administer occupational health screenings, immunizations, and health surveillance programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of medical equipment, facilities, and supplies, ensuring readiness and compliance.
- Deliver health and safety training, including first aid, CPR, and other relevant medical topics.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Act as a health advisor to management regarding personnel fitness for duty and public health matters.
- Participate in emergency drills and safety meetings, providing expert medical input.
Required Skills
- Paramedic (EMT-P) certification or equivalent professional medical qualification.
- Current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
- Minimum of 4 years of post-certification experience in emergency medicine, critical care, or an industrial/offshore setting.
- Proficiency in basic life support and advanced medical procedures.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in isolated and high-pressure environments.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, or a related health field.
- Offshore medical experience with a reputable oil & gas or maritime company.
- Additional certifications such as BOSIET/FOET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training / Further Offshore Emergency Training).
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of international health regulations and occupational health standards specific to the energy industry.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
