Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Intern with a strong interest in pediatric care to join our dedicated team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic clinical environment, working directly with licensed Occupational Therapists to support the developmental needs of children. The intern will assist in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention strategies for a diverse pediatric population, helping them achieve their full potential in daily activities. This role is perfect for students or recent graduates eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical, impactful setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed Occupational Therapists in conducting comprehensive assessments for pediatric clients.
  • Support the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.
  • Help facilitate therapeutic activities and interventions focused on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory processing, and activities of daily living.
  • Observe and participate in family education and training sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records under supervision.
  • Prepare therapy materials and maintain a clean and organized treatment area.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and care strategies.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Demonstrated interest in pediatric occupational therapy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong observational and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and ethical practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or practicum experience in a pediatric setting.
  • Knowledge of common pediatric developmental disorders and conditions.
  • Basic understanding of sensory integration principles.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
