Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Night Shift Pharmacy Technician to join our team in a secure facility located in Kansas City, Kansas. This vital role involves supporting pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy during overnight hours. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescribed medications in a secure facility setting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Accurately input prescription data into the pharmacy system and manage patient profiles.
- Manage and maintain pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications.
- Conduct regular checks for expired medications and remove them from stock according to protocol.
- Handle and package controlled substances in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and internal policies.
- Process patient information and insurance claims with precision, resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal staff and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment, adhering to all safety and sanitation protocols.
- Answer phones and address inquiries or direct them to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy to enhance operational efficiency and patient safety.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures related to pharmacy practice.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) from PTCB or NHA
- Current state-specific Pharmacy Technician licensure/registration in Kansas
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital or secure facility setting
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software systems and data entry
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shifts
- Foundational understanding of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related scientific or healthcare field
- Experience with sterile compounding or IV admixture
- Previous experience working consistent night shifts
- Advanced knowledge of controlled substance handling regulations and compliance
