Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Neonatal Assistant to join our specialized Neonatal Unit in Wolverhampton. In this vital role, you will provide essential support to our nursing staff, assisting with the daily care of premature and critically ill newborns. Your work will directly contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for our youngest patients and their families. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of care and hygiene within the unit, ensuring that every baby receives the best possible start in life.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist nurses with the daily care of neonates, including feeding, changing nappies, and comfort measures.
- Monitor and record basic vital signs and report any concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile environment within the Neonatal Unit, including cleaning equipment and preparing cots.
- Support parents and families, offering comfort and practical assistance under the guidance of nurses.
- Restock supplies and ensure the unit is well-equipped for patient care.
- Assist with patient transportation within the hospital as required.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control guidelines.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety principles in a clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or social care setting, particularly with infants or children.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Basic life support or first aid certification.
- Understanding of neonatal care principles.
