Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Modern Foreign Languages Teacher to join our successful and supportive department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching French, German, or Spanish, and dedicated to inspiring students across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5. You will play a crucial role in developing students’ linguistic skills, cultural understanding, and confidence in communication. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is committed to making a significant impact on student achievement and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective MFL lessons across all key stages.
- Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning and progress of students.
- Contribute to the development of the MFL curriculum and departmental resources.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and challenged.
- Participate in extra-curricular activities and school events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support student welfare.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in French, German, Spanish, or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to teach at least one modern foreign language (French, German, or Spanish) to GCSE level, with experience up to A-Level preferred.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate diverse learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching more than one modern foreign language.
- Previous experience working in a diverse urban school setting.
- A track record of achieving strong student outcomes in MFL.
- Experience with curriculum development or leadership in an MFL department.
