Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Medical Center Porters to join our essential services team at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. As a Porter, you will play a crucial role in the smooth and efficient operation of our medical facilities, ensuring patients, equipment, and vital supplies are moved safely and promptly. This role is fundamental to patient care and the overall functionality of our hospital and clinics. Adherence to strict NHS standards and protocols is paramount. This is an on-site position requiring a strong commitment to teamwork and patient well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting patients via wheelchairs, trolleys, and beds between wards, departments, and clinic areas.
- Moving medical equipment, records, specimens, and supplies safely and efficiently throughout the hospital.
- Delivering and collecting mail, laboratory samples, and pharmaceutical products.
- Assisting with the safe movement of deceased patients to the mortuary, showing respect and dignity.
- Responding promptly to requests and using communication systems effectively.
- Maintaining cleanliness and functionality of transportation equipment.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and manual handling guidelines.
- Providing compassionate and reassuring support to patients during transport.
- Working collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
