Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Porter with basic handyman skills to join our facilities team in Wolverhampton. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our client’s premises. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, from minor repairs and general maintenance to assisting with equipment setup and maintaining a tidy environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting repairs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot basic issues.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment, furniture, and event spaces as required.
- Ensure all common areas, utility rooms, and storage spaces are kept clean, organized, and safe.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and report any maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Support the facilities team in larger projects and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
Required Skills
- Proven basic handyman skills, including experience with minor repairs (e.g., patching walls, fixing leaky taps, changing light bulbs).
- Ability to safely and efficiently use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance issues.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a workplace environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a porter, maintenance assistant, or similar role.
- Relevant vocational training or certifications in a trade (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing).
- A valid UK driving license.
- First Aid certification.
