Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in optical healthcare? Specsavers in Portsmouth is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Optical Lab Technician to join our bustling in-store lab. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals eager to learn the technical craft of optical lens processing and frame fitting. You will receive comprehensive training to become proficient in cutting, edging, and fitting lenses, as well as maintaining our state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Undergo comprehensive training in all aspects of optical lens processing.
- Learn to operate and maintain optical machinery for lens cutting, edging, and tinting.
- Assist in the accurate fitting of lenses into various frame types.
- Perform quality checks on finished eyewear to ensure adherence to prescriptions and company standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised lab environment, following all health and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with dispensing opticians and other team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Manage inventory of lenses and lab supplies.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major faults.

- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques.
- Basic understanding of workshop safety practices.
